Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is a nationally recognized housing and community development organization serving the San Joaquin Valley since 1965.

SHE is the Central Valley's primary, HUD approved, non-profit agency providing assistance to low-income, underserved populations in rural areas. For over 45 years, the purpose of Self-Help Enterprises has been to assist low-income families of the San Joaquin Valley improve their living conditions. By reaching out to distressed homeowners of all income brackets, SHE's foreclosure counselors have educated thousands of Valley families about ways to avoid foreclosure.

Self-Help Enterprises' foreclosure department has assisted numerous families, most amongst the ruralworking poor, in obtaining loan modifications. Had these families been without SHE's assistance, they would have lost their homes to foreclosure.

Our service area includes eight counties in California's Central Valley, from Kern County in the south, to Stanislaus County in the north. With no end in sight, the Central Valley's foreclosure rates remain among the highest in the country, consistently ranking in the top five nationally.
